Jazzed about "The Last Stand"

Did you catch the trailer for “X-Men: The Last Stand” (previously “X3") on Fox last night? A lot of fans have been grousing that director Brett Ratner, taking over from Bryan Singer, is going to ruin the franchise. But the trailer sure got my fanboy blood flowing. A lot of cool-looking new mutants, including Kelsey Grammer as the Beast. My big worry is that the story - combining Magneto,a mutant cure, the classic Dark Phoenix story line and more - is going to be too cluttered. The latest Entertainment Weekly, by the way, has a report on the movie, focusing mostly on the fuss over Ratner.

My son usually races out during commercials, but raced in for the trailer. His initial reaction:
"We're going to see that! That's a theater movie, not a DVD movie."

I worry about shortchanging characters when there are so many, but after the trailer, I'm hopeful.

This might just be me but, what's going on with the Juggernaut's look - I mean the pics I've seen so far look like he going to be busting through things belly first in platform shoes (CG him - PLEASE!). Also, would it kill the producers and directors's to 4-color the look of the costumes. No I'm not asking for spandex just brighten it up a bit - why do most hero movies (Spiderman, Superman excluded) have to look so dark? To continue the rant - if they want dark brooding looks than for crying out lound make a black and white noir film - like Sin City or Rumble Fish - the slight touches of color in those films has a much more effective impact in my opinion.
